For many years I worked for the BBC, starting my broadcasting career at BBC Radio Jersey in the Channel Islands and subsequently working once again for them from 2014 to 2021.
During my time at BBC Radio Jersey I worked as a producer and presenter of different shows and programmes.
For the last two years of my time with BBC local radio in the Island, I worked as the Communities Journalist, reaching out to the community and helping them to have a voice. That also included encouraging and helping people to record their own stories (particularly important during the COVID19 lockdowns) and working on national initiatives including the BBC ''Make A Difference' campaign.
For a few years I was the producer/presenter of the Afternoon Show with a show which included loads of great local conversations with local people and personalities, as well as lots of fun with visiting guests and celebrities.
We chatted about events and local initiatives, including a Wellbeing Wednesday hour, a monthly Gardening Hour and other initiatives like the BBC Radio Jersey Book of the Month Club which we ran with the Jersey Library.
During my time at BBC Radio Jersey I was also the faith producer for the station, producing and presenting the Sunday Morning Breakfast show, a programme which celebrates the life of the faith community in the island. For a few years I also produced and presented the Saturday Morning show.
In addition, I got involved in producing and presenting Children in Need for Jersey, presenting the Jersey Battle of Flowers and other outside broadcasts for BBC Radio Jersey and organising and producing the BBC Radio Jersey Christmas community carols service, which was recorded for transmission.
BBC Radio Jersey can be listened to live online or, if you're within listening distance, on 88.8fm and 1026mw.
On December 9th 2013 I was the guest of the wonderful Anna Cookson, who was presenting Premier Radio (London) Woman to Woman Show. I spent a fantastic hour or so chatting to Anna, mostly about my book 'William and Catherine - the love story of the founders of The Salvation Army told through their letters' (Monarch 2013) ... what an absolute privilege!
Right Click on the grey box and you should be able to hear the whole interview!
And here I am with Anna in the studio ... and afterwards .... a lovely morning all round!
Many thanks to Anna, and to Premier for letting me post this interview on my website
